A FREE eero 6+ (including eero Secure) is available to all Superloop residential nbn customers. You can only get one free router per service, and must be connected via FTTP, FTTC, or HFC technology. To qualify your service must remain active for 18-months, however, if you cancel your service before your 18-months is up you’ll be charged a one-off clawback fee of $8/mth (inc. GST) based on the number of months remaining. So, if you cancel 6-months into your 18-month commitment the amount owed will be based off the remaining 12-months. Check out our Terms & Conditions here
Speed tiers indicate the theoretical maximum speed you’ll get to your home. Actual speeds you experience depend on a few things, like demand in other parts of the network, or in-home conditions (like the kids streaming and gaming all the things), as well as where you place your modem (putting your modem in the cupboard is a no no). Check TES for further guidance, or our About nbn speeds section below.
Typical Evening Speeds are the average speeds you can expect during the evening (specifically between 7pm and 11pm) from your internet. These speeds aren’t guaranteed, and past performance shouldn’t be used as an indication of future speeds. Things like your access technology (modem/router), demand on the network (who’s online and what they’re doing), local internet traffic (surrounding houses in your area), and the condition of your physical line (old lines that haven’t been maintained) can impact the quality of your connection and speed.
If you have a Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection you’re already winning in your internet life. Why? Because you’re eligible for our Superfast and Lightspeed tiers. Here’s a couple of things to note about our Superfast and Lightspeed plans:
1. Download speed performance will vary greatly depending on the time of day. So, we recommend you use Typical Evening Speed as a guide to determine the likely performance.
2. To get the most out of our Superfast and Lightspeed tiers we highly recommend you use a Superloop supplied modem. And no, this isn’t a cheap upsell. They’re preconfigured to the exact specifications of our network so you can setup quickly (just plug it in and play) and maximise network speed.
Try as we might, not all FTTC (Fibre to the Curb) lines can support speeds above nbn 100. The only way to confirm your maximum speed is to install your service first and test your speeds after. And if your line doesn’t support your chosen speed tier, we’ll offer to move you to the speed tier that’ll work better with your access line. We love having a back-up.
Like their cousin above, some FTTN (Fibre to the Node) and FTTB (Fibre to the Building) access lines may have a hard time supporting speed tiers above nbn 50 (but we love them just the same). Again, the best way to determine your maximum access line speed is to install the service and then test it. If it can’t support your selected speed tier, we’ll offer to move you to something more suitable.
Need a landline because of your parents? Don’t worry, we get it. Why not add a Superloop Home Phone (VoIP) service while we’re getting you connected to the nbn? You’ll get access to super-low PAYG call rates, and porting your number is free.
As VoIP uses the internet to make calls, you’ll need a compatible modem.
Pay-As-You-Go call rates (Home Phone VoIP):
Call type | Charge |
Untimed Calls | 10c/call |
National Calls | 10c/call |
Calls to Australian mobiles | 20c/min |
Untimed 13/1300 Calls | 25c/call |
Untimed 1223 | $1.00/call |
Untimed 1225 | $1.65/call |
Superloop to Superloop | FREE |
At the time of ordering your new Superloop nbn service, a $1 debit may be made to your account. Don’t worry, we’ll credit this amount back to you on your first invoice. Going forward, you can pay your monthly bill one of two ways, Credit Card or Direct Debit.
(Pssst! We recommend Direct Debit so you can avoid a 1% Credit Card surcharge. Don’t tell the banks we told you this)
If your existing modem is getting a little long in the tooth, we have two modems/routers you can choose from: the ZTE H1600 Wi-Fi modem or the eero6+ router.
Preconfigured to the Superloop network, the ZTE H1600 helps ensure you achieve optimum performance, and lets us provide full remote technical support should there be any issues. You can find the full specs for the modem here. And if you need to stretch your signal a little further, you can add the compatible ZTE H3601 Wi-Fi Extender. That way you’ll have internet everywhere. Especially in the bathroom at the very back of the house…where no one will find you. You can find the specs for the ZTE H3601 here.
Alternatively, you can opt for the eero6+ router which comes with a FREE subscription to eero Secure, a security service that protects all your internet connected devices from the level of the internet. Which is a fancy way of saying it blocks all the nasty stuff the moment you connect to your home network. The eero6+ router is compatible with HFC, FTTP, and FTTC connections only and doesn’t support Home Phone VoIP. So, you’ll need to take that into consideration when deciding on which modem is right for you.
We get it. Sometimes things just don’t work out. Sure, it'll break our hearts, but if you’re happy then so are we. That’s why we believe in ‘no lock-in’ plans, so you can leave at any time. When you feel it’s come to a “it’s not you it’s us” kind of situation and want to cancel your service, just give us thirty days’ notice so we can get things ready. And maybe have an ugly cry or two.
When people are given access to things without limits, like our unlimited data or call allowances, most act accordingly. However, there are some exceptions. If you need a refresher on how NOT to use the internet or our phone service (like for hate or harrassment – the real ugly stuff), then take a squiz at Superloop’s acceptable use policies covering internet and telephone.
If you’re a residential customer who joined Superloop on or after 6 February 2023, we’ve got great news. You can start using My Speed Boost right now! All you need to do is jump into your Superloop app or SuperHub portal (if you’re on your laptop while reading this), scroll down, and with the push of a button you can get up to double your usual internet speed for 24-hours. We also give you up to five FREE Speed Upgrade Days a month. So, you can use them whenever you want, and even schedule them in ahead of time.

Although scams aren’t anything new, the digital variety has been on the rise in Australia over the past few years. By using a wide variety of methods and techniques (not to mention avenues), they’ve become quite skilled at gaining access to people’s money and personal information. Even going so far as to be able to impersonate legitimate government bodies, businesses, and organisations.
We’ve all said, “I’d never fall for that”. So, to help ensure you don’t, here is a guide we created so you can learn more about scams and how to protect yourself.
Many factors affect the internet speeds achievable at your premises. These include:
The factors affecting internet speeds are described in more detail below.
Depending on your specific address, different connection technologies can be used to connect your premises to the Superloop nbn network. Each connection type has a different theoretical maximum speed. In addition, within each technology, multiple speed tiers may be available. The table below explains the variety of nbn connection types.
Connection technology | Description |
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) | Optical Fibre runs from the internet and Superloop's network direct to your premises. |
Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) | Optical Fibre runs from the internet and Superloop's network to a node in your street or nearby street. An existing ‘pay TV’ or coaxial cable then runs from the node to your premises. |
Fibre to the Node (FTTN) | Optical Fibre runs from the internet and Superloop's network to a node in your street or nearby street. Copper wires (usually the existing phone line) runs from the node to your premises. |
Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) | Optical Fibre runs from the internet and Superloop's network to a pit in the footpath close to your premises. Copper wires (usually the existing phone line) runs from the pit to your premises. |
Fibre to the Building (FTTB) | Generally used in apartment blocks or similar type of buildings. Optical Fibre runs from the internet and Superloop's network to a node in your building's communications equipment room. A copper cable runs from the node to your premises. |
Fixed Wireless | Typically used in circumstances where the distance between premises is large. A fixed antenna on your roof receives a signal from a wireless tower. |
Satellite | A satellite dish is installed on your premises and receives a signal from a satellite. |
Typical Evening Speed is the average speed experienced by a representative group of users between the hours of 7pm and 11pm. It is not a guaranteed minimum speed and past performance is not an indication of expected future speed.
The actual speed you will experience depends on many factors such as your access technology, the total demand on the network, local internet traffic, your physical line condition, the hardware and software you use, the location of your data source and the performance of Wi-Fi within your building. Current typical evening speeds on the Superloop nbn network appear in the table below.

To understand download speeds, it may help to think of the Superloop network as like a freeway. Your speed tier sets a maximum speed limit for how fast your data is allowed to travel on that freeway. During quiet periods, data may be able to travel across the network at the relevant speed tier 'speed limit'. During peak periods, however, like any freeway, the speed of data on the network often slows with congestion and the speed at which your data can travel will often be much less than the 'speed tier' speed limit of your access line.
Factors specific to your access line at your address can affect your internet speeds. These include:
The maximum speed that your access line is capable of (your access line speed) can only be determined once your FTTN/B/C service has been installed and tested. If this access line speed is limited for any reason (including the Co-existence period), you may not benefit from selecting a higher network speed tier.
Once your nbn service is activated, NBN Co will test your access line speed. If NBN Co advises us that your access line is not capable of supporting the speed tier you have chosen, we will give you the option to move your service to a lower speed tier and credit any difference in speed tier charges you have paid. You must let us know that you wish to downgrade your plan speed tier within 3 months of your nbn service being activated to receive a credit.
Co-existence means that your nbn FTTN/B/C service, which partly uses the copper network, will co-exist with other services using the copper line from your local exchange to your premises. These other co-existing services include:
The Co-existence period is the period of time commencing from the date you are first able to acquire an nbn FTTN/B/C service, up to the date which all legacy services (listed above) are disconnected from your local exchange.
The presence of legacy services during the Co-existence period may adversely affect the performance of your nbn FTTN/B/C service as follows:
NBN Co considers a nbn FTTN/B/C service to be within specification if the speed achieved during the Co-existence period is higher than 12Mbps down and 1Mbps up, and once Co-existence period has ended, higher than 25Mbps down and 5Mbps up – regardless of the speed tier ordered.
Superloop will always attempt to deliver the highest speed possible, however, as described above, there may be factors outside of our control. Superloop always recommends that you use the Superloop supplied modem for nbn FTTN/B/C services to ensure we can deliver the highest speeds possible on your copper line and to facilitate the best possible levels of support.
During peak periods, broadband speeds slow down as more users use our network at the same time. During these periods the speed of the network more generally often determine the internet speeds you experience rather than your access line speed or the speed tier you select.
To manage the impacts of congestion, Superloop uses network management tools to prioritise different data types. For example, during periods of network congestion, we may prioritise data for VoIP and video streaming (which require particular data speeds to operate effectively) over general downloads or internet browsing. These, in turn, may be prioritised over software upgrades and file-sharing applications that can adversely affect a network if not managed during peak periods.
Internet speeds can also be affected by the source of content and by congestion at the servers providing that content. If you’re downloading, for example, from a server which is congested or has only a small capacity, it will be slow even if you have a fast home connection. If those servers are in another part of the world, speeds may also be affected by congestion on international data links.
A range of factors within your premises can affect the internet speeds you achieve:
