Big news today for RSPs as Superloop launches ‘Hosted Backhaul’, a new infrastructure-on-demand solution optimised for nbn’s new WBA5.
With Hosted Backhaul, Retail Service Providers get yet another alternative to optimise their network configuration and effectively pick and choose and mix and match their infrastructure needs.
“It’s important our customers have a comprehensive range of solutions with the flexibility and controls to scale their infrastructure as they grow, but beyond this, we know it’s crucial that they can seamlessly transition elements of their network as needed,” said Superloop’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nick Pachos.
“We’ve invested time collaborating with our Wholesale partners to create a range of solutions for RSPs, from smaller resellers through to large corporates who may be looking for a White Label internet service to diversify their customer offerings or bolster their loyalty incentives.”
More about Hosted Backhaul:
With Hosted Backhaul, RSPs can ‘bring their own nbn WBA’ and benefit from direct technical and commercial control of their customer relationship, without having to establish, deploy, and operate costly distributed Poins of Interconnection (POI) network infrastructure.
Plus, in addition to capacity on diverse fibre links, Superloop supplies and manages all the electronic infrastructure from the nbn POI to the RSP’s Point of Presence (PoP), removing cost and complexity, and delivering all the benefits of the Superloop network’s scale and resiliency.
Why'd we create it?
“Hosted Backhaul has been developed for RSPs rethinking their internet strategy in response to changing market dynamics, including the new SAU and WBA5,” continues Pachos. “RSPs are moving away from historical purchase decisions that saw them outlay excessive capex and opex to establish networks at POIs.”
“Instead, we’re giving them full control of OVC, CVC, AVC, S-Tag provisioning and ownership of the full customer experience, including retaining or establishing their own WBA with nbn, as well as billing and support, whilst saving on cost and the complexity of physical infrastructure,” says Pachos.
Our scalable Infrastructure-on-demand:
At Superloop, our goal is to help customers unleash the unlimited possibilities of the internet. For our Wholesale partners, that means providing flexibility and scalability and really understanding the capabilities they’d like to have, and what they’re seeking to deliver, and then creating a simple, scalable solution that’s tailored to their requirements.
Our offering has been designed so that customers can pick and choose the approach that best suit their needs, potentially starting with a low touch, White Label model, before moving upwards and onto Broadband Aggregation and Backhaul, or they might choose to pick and mix approaches In different market segments.
Dark Fibre: Point to Point dedicated fibre that allows the RSP to run any applicable protocol required.
Hosted Backhaul: Utilizes the RSP’s NNI, with dual interfaces hosted on a Superloop device with protected backhaul from each POI. This suits RSP's who want to leverage Superloop's switching infrastructure deployed at NBN POI's.
Backhaul - Physical: Utilizes the RSP’s NNI, with a single interface and protected backhaul from each POI. This suits RSPs who have sufficient scale to set-up in some/all POIs, but want to tap into established backhaul at a competitive cost.
Backhaul - Virtual: backhaul via a virtual interface (V-NNI) provisioned on Superloop’s NNI. This suits RSPs who don’t want to establish in any/all POIs (due to scale and/or NNI set-up fees) but want more control over the customer experience.
Broadband Aggregation - Layer 2: a burstable aggregation service (national or state-based) and RSPs order Layer 2 services individually. RSPs can order and manage services with a portal and/or APIs, which suits those who want to manage some aspects of the network.
Broadband Aggregation - Layer 3: services and options such as modems and static IPs, RSPs can order and manage these services via a portal. This suits RSPs who don’t want any network to manage, but want to retain the relationship with the end customer.
White Label: Superloop manages the end-to-end network and customer experience, from SQ, order, billing, and management. This suits RSPs who are selling internet services as a cross-sell to their core business and opt to outsource to industry specialists to ensure a quality experience at a consistent and predictable cost base.
