FTTB, FTTN and FTTC speeds cannot be confirmed. We will inform customers of their actual download speed once connected and you will have the option to downgrade to a lower speed plan without penalties. nbn Home Superfast and Home Ultrafast speeds only available at FTTP and limited HFC technology locations.

1 The advertised speeds are the maximum theoretical speeds for the chosen plan. Actual speeds may be lower due to many factors including your network configuration, the location and type of content, the number of users simultaneously accessing the network and the performance of third party interconnection infrastructure that Superloop does not monitor or maintain. The maximum theoretical speeds should not be relied upon in making a purchasing decision. Real world usage is unlikely to consistently achieve such speeds, due to the factors described above. For more information see here.

2 Typical evening speeds are based on the download speed test results of existing customers between 7pm and 11pm and are subject to change. Actual speeds may be lower due to many factors including your network configuration, the location and type of content, the number of users simultaneously accessing the network, and the performance of third party interconnection infrastructure that Superloop does not monitor or maintain. Wifi connected devices may have slower speeds than Ethernet connected devices. Typical Superloop NBN Evening Upload Speeds are: Home Basic 4-10 Mbps, Home Standard Plus 10-20 Mbps, Home Fast 10-20 Mbps, Home Fast Plus 20-40 Mbps, Home Superfast 10-25, Home Ultrafast - 20-50. For more information on nbn™ speeds, see here.

3 If the 3TB allowance on the home ultrafast plan is used up before the end of the billing cycle, a reduced Speed of 100Mbps is applied for excess usage at no charge.

General Information

As NBN Co rollout out their Fibre Upgrade program across Australia, certain nbn™ FTTN and FTTC connected addresses will become eligible for an upgrade to a full fibre Fibre-to-the-home connection. You can find out if you can Flip to Fibre™ by checking your service address on this page.

By checking your address above, you will quickly discover if your premises is ready for a Fibre-to-the-home upgrade straight away, or any time within the next 3 months.

If your premises has been allocated a “ready for Fibre-to-the-home upgrade” date, you are eligible for a FREE connection upgrade to a Fibre-to-the-home provided you order a new high speed nbn™ plan as follows:

  • If your connection is FTTN you need to order a Family nbn™ 100/20Mbps plan or faster
  • If your connection is FTTC you need to order a Superfast nbn™ 250/25Mbps plan or faster

Once you have placed your order for a new high speed nbn™ plan with free Fibre-to-the-home upgrade, we’ll immediately organise to transfer your internet service to Superloop, using your existing connection technology (FTTN or FTTC) on your choice of either a 100Mbps or 50Mbps service. And we will automatically upgrade your connection to Fibre-to-the-home as soon as we can and activate your chosen new high speed plan.

It is important to note that your “ready for Fibre-to-the-home upgrade” date is the earliest date NBN Co can commence connecting your premises to Fibre-to-the-home. NBN Co will commence the installation of your new Fibre-to-the-home service from either your “ready for Fibre-to-the-home upgrade” date or the date you placed your order, whichever is the latest. From this date NBN Co estimate the following service activation timelines:

  • For nbn™ Fibre to the Node (FTTN) premises
    • Urban area: 19 Business Days
    • Regional and remote areas: 24 Business Days
  • nbn™ Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) premises
    • Urban Area: 25 Business Days
    • Regional and remote areas: 29 Business Days

When your new high-speed Flip to Fibre™ service activates, your account will be credited for the prorated unused portion of your FTTN or FTTC service and you will be invoiced for the monthly fee of the newly activated Fibre-to-the home service.

The free connection offer applies to standard Fibre-to-the-home connections only. Additional connection charges, such as New Development Charges or unforeseen works may apply.

The Flip to Fibre™ promotion is subject to qualification and Superloop reserves the right to withdraw or change the offer. See Terms & Conditions.

Typical Evening Speed (TES) refers to the average speed you can expect to experience during peak internet usage times (7pm to 11pm).

Each plan will display the maximum download and upload speed for that plan as well as the Typical Evening Speeds (TES). Sometimes these numbers will be different.

Read more about speeds and performance here.

Each household will have unique internet needs depending on the number of people who may be online at the same time, the number of devices being used, and the type of activities each person is using the internet for.

As a general recommendation, we suggest the following home internet plans:

2-3 light users, occasional streaming

  • nbn™ Home Basic (unlimited data)
  • nbn™ Home Standard (unlimited data)

4-5 moderate users, occasional online gaming, occasional remote working or studying

  • nbn™ Home Fast (unlimited data)

6+ heavy users, frequent online gaming, frequent remote working or studying

  • nbn™ Home Superfast (unlimited data)
  • nbn™ Home Ultrafast (3TB data)

In reality, any broadband plan can work for heavy online gaming. The more critical metric to compare between internet providers for gaming performance is latency.

Read more about Superloop’s lowest latency in Australia.

However, if you tend to download a lot of games or you live stream your games on social media, you will want the higher performance internet plans.

  • nbn™ Home Superfast (unlimited data)
  • nbn™ Home Ultrafast (3TB data)

As a comparison:

  • a 50Gb game download on the nbn™ Home Superfast plan at peak speed would take approx 26 min 40 sec
  • a 50Gb game download on the nbn™ Home Ultrafast plan at peak speed would take approx 6 min 40 sec

In reality, any internet speed can work for streaming TV and movies. The main differences you need to consider are the number of people in your household streaming or gaming at the same time, and whether you’re streaming in Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD).

For most households of 3-5 people streaming HD video, we generally recommend the following home internet plans:

  • nbn™ Home Standard (unlimited data)
  • nbn™ Home Fast (unlimited data)

However, if you tend to download a lot of movies or entire seasons of TV shows, or if there are people in your household who download a lot of video games, you may want to consider the higher performance plans, such as:

  • nbn™ Home Superfast (unlimited data)
  • nbn™ Home Ultrafast (3TB data)

If your home is connected to the NBN, there are several different NBN connection types that will impact the speed tier plans available to your property.

If, when you entered your address, the higher speed tier plans did not appear, that will mean that your property is not hooked up to an NBN connection with the highest speed capacity. This likely means that your home is one of the following NBN connection types:

  • Fibre to the Node (FTTN)
  • Fibre to the Building (FTTB)
  • Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)

These three NBN connections can accommodate up to a maximum of 100Mbps download speed because of the methods by which cabling goes from the NBN’s network to your property.

Find out more about the NBN technology types.

For customers in South Australia, Superloop offers Fixed Wireless broadband internet as an independent alternative to the NBN.

Superloop completely owns and operates our entire Fixed Wireless broadband network, which includes powerful mmWave technology available to homes close to our Fixed Wireless towers.

Some South Australian Fixed Wireless customers may be able to access symmetrical speeds for their uploads and downloads.

If a Fixed Wireless connection is available to your home, the plan options will appear when you enter your address in the address bar.

Find out more about how Fixed Wireless home broadband works.

For many customers switching from another NBN provider, it may only take less than an hour to activate your broadband connection.

In the event that an NBN service technician will need to complete additional work to activate your connection, we will book in the earliest available time.

When you sign up for a Superloop NBN plan, you can either purchase a new Wi-Fi router or you may choose to bring your own router.

If you choose to byo modem or router, you will need to check if you're using a compatible modem or router for your NBN connection type. Additionally, our support team may not have the technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues in relation to all types and brands of modems and routers, so if you’re unsure, we recommend new customers purchase a new router during the sign-up process.

Once you are signed up with Superloop, you can purchase a compatible router in your Members Area.

Find out more about the modems and routers available through Superloop.

Not all Wi-Fi routers and cables are compatible with higher plan speed, such as the nbn™ Home Superfast plan and the nbn™ Home Ultrafast plan.

For nbn plans higher than 100Mbps, you may need to change settings on your router, upgrade your router, and/or upgrade your Ethernet cabling to receive the higher speeds.

Find out if your hardware is compatible with the highest nbn plan speed.

Of course!

We offer no lock-in contracts on all our nbn broadband plans so you can change your plan once per pay cycle.

If you want to change your plan to a lower speed, you can only do this at the end of your billing cycle.

After you sign up, you can change your plan any time in your Members Area.

Unlike most other internet service providers, Superloop does not rent cable from other telco companies, so we can offer a congestion-free network and markedly lower latency.

Superloop’s backhaul network connects to all 121 NBN Points of Interconnect (POI), ensuring we can supply high-speed internet to customers across the entire NBN network.

Superloop began as a group of engineers who cared about supplying reliable internet to Australian homes, so we believe in providing the best technology possible. As we expand, so does our network and capabilities, and with that, opportunities to deliver better service and internet connections to our customers.
