One club. Two generations. A new chapter.

For Jonas Markovski, Preston Lions isn’t simply the club he plays for. It’s part of his family story.

His father John wore the Lions shirt before becoming a Socceroo and Olympian, then returned to coach Preston to a Victorian Championship. Years later, Jonas followed him into the senior team as a teenager.

After taking his career through the A-League and Japan, Jonas came home to Preston last year to help write the club’s next chapter. Following an injury-hit season, he returned with a hat-trick in the NPL and found the net again in Preston’s historic first Australia Cup Round of 16 win.

The Hahn Australia Cup is built for stories like this: community clubs taking their shot, generations sharing the same colours and challengers refusing to be defined by where they started. It’s why the competition feels so close to Superloop. We know what it means to take on the bigger guys, back yourself and keep moving forward.

Preston's first national-round campaign may be over, but if the last few months proved anything, it's that this club isn't done surprising people yet.

Grassroots clubs are where football stories begin, but they’re also where they keep being passed on. The Markovskis’ connection to Preston shows the power of a club that gives generations of players and supporters somewhere to belong, compete and dream bigger. That’s the kind of community we’re proud to stand behind.
